FIRM NEWS
JOHN IZZO testified in Springfield on March 2 and 3, 2010, before two committees of the Illinois General Assembly in support of legislation which he helped to craft. Senate Bill 3544 and House Bill 6041 were aimed at simplifying permanent transfers from school district working cash funds to the operating funds most in need. This legislation will save many districts from unjustified tax objections, and comes in response to last year's Appellate Court decision in G.I.S. Venture v. Novak. House Bill 6041 passed the General Assembly and was signed into law by Governor Quinn on July 26, 2010, as Public Act 96-1277.
BILL GLEASON presented legal arguments before the Illinois Supreme Court on March 10, 2010, in the case of SPEED District 802 v. Warning (Case No. 108785).This case involves critical issues concerning the extent to which a school employer must permit teachers to have union representation at evaluation and performance conferences.
